CAPERNAUM / CAFARNAO

Synagogue of the IV century.  It stands on the Synagogue of Jesus' time, where He promised the Eucharist.  The listeners didn't understand the meaning of His words and left the room, except for the Apostles: "These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.  Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? (...) From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?  Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.  And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God". (Jn 6, 59-69)

Sinagoga del IV°secolo.  Sorge sulla SInagoga del tempo di Gesù, dove Egli promise l'Eucarestia.   Gli ascoltatori non compresero le Sue parole e lasciarono l'aula, eccetto gli Apostoli:"Queste cose disse Gesù, insegnando nella sinagoga a Cafarnao. Molti dei suoi discepoli, dopo aver ascoltato, dissero: «Questo linguaggio è duro; chi può intenderlo?»(...) Da allora molti dei suoi discepoli si tirarono indietro e non andavano più con lui.   Disse allora Gesù ai Dodici: «Forse anche voi volete andarvene?».  Gli rispose Simon Pietro: «Signore, da chi andremo? Tu hai parole di vita eterna;  noi abbiamo creduto e conosciuto che tu sei il Santo di Dio»" (Gv.6, 59-69)
